Career Fairs & Student Nurse Presentations:

R.O.N.A. holds virtual events and attends career fairs each year to talk with high school students and current nursing students about careers in nursing. We would love to have you join us!

Committees:

Nurses Month Celebration (AKA Banquet) – The Banquet/Nurses Month Committee plans and carries out the Nurses Month Celebration and Annual Meeting. They are responsible for planning the event’s theme, decorations, menu, entertainment and program schedule. They meet 3-4 times a year in the late Summer/early Fall for planning and as needed in the Spring. Typical time commitment – is 5-10 hours in the Fall and 15-20 hours in the Spring. Banquet is held in May. The busiest time is the end of April and beginning of May.

Scholarship – The Scholarship Committee is responsible for selecting recipients for the R.O.N.A. scholarships and reviewing and proposing changes to the application process and applications. Each committee member is responsible for reviewing all of the applications individually. There are also three meetings: an orientation before applications are reviewed, a meeting to finalize the selections after all committee members have reviewed the applications and a meeting later in the Spring to discuss the next year’s applications. The reviewing of applications can be done remotely or at our office in Tacoma. All meetings are hybrid. Typical time commitment: 10-15 hours depending on number of applications received.

Fundraising – The Fundraising Committee plans and, with the support of staff, assists in the execution of our fundraising events/activities and campaigns. Historically, we’ve held two main fundraising events a year – a silent auction or gift basket raffle at our banquet & a bowling Tournament. The committee develops and supports additional fundraising campaigns – Giving Tuesday, monthly giving, Thank A Nurse etc. The committee meets 2-4 times a year to plan fundraising activities and help procure donations. Typical time commitment: 20 – 30 hours with most of the time being in advance and day of bowling tournament and silent auction.

Education – The Education Committee is responsible for developing topics for upcoming education events and helping to find presenters. The committee meets 1-2 times in the Spring/Early Summer to plan topics for the coming year and maybe again in the Fall to finalize plans. (R.O.N.A. follows a fiscal year July to June.) Typical time commitment: 6-8 hours.

Community Outreach – The Community Outreach Committee explores opportunities to connect with members and promote R.O.N.A. The committee also meets 2-3 times a year, typically once each Fall, Winter & Spring. Typical time commitment 4-6 hours.
