How do I submit my application?

Applications can be emailed, mailed or drop off at our office. All portions of the applications must be submitted before the deadline. Recommendations must be submitted using the online recommendation form.

How will I know you’ve received all parts of my application?

You are welcome to email us at scholarships@rainierolympicnurses.org or call us at 253-572-7337 to verify that all parts of your application has been received. Since we are not able to accept any application materials after the deadline, you are encouraged to submit your application early to ensure all parts are received by the deadline.

I’m having trouble with the application form. The fillable pdf isn’t working correctly.

Every computer uses different software to open pdfs. We’ve built the form to hopefully work smoothly on most pdf readers but if you’re having trouble, you might try Adobe Acrobat Reader: https://get.adobe.com/reader/

The pdf applications can also be printed and filled out by hand. To submit, you can scan the document or, if necessary, submit a photo. If we have any trouble opening your application, we will reach out by email.

When will scholarship checks be mailed?

Scholarship checks are mailed directly to schools in June.

Do I need to send official transcripts?

An official transcript is not needed, an unofficial transcript is sufficient.

Do you have a form for my references to complete?

Yes! References MUST use our online recommendation form. You can direct them to the form here. It MUST be received by the February 28, 2025 deadline.

Should I send in the recommendation forms with my application or separate?

All recommendation must be submitted through our online recommendation. If you are a scholarship applicant, you can direct the person providing a recommendation to Scholarship Recommendation Form – Rainier Olympic Nurses Association (Copy and paste – https://rainierolympicnurses.org/scholarship-recommendation-form/)

If I’m a past scholarship recipient, can I apply again?

Nursing students are eligible to receive a R.O.N.A. scholarship award once every other year. If you didn’t receive a scholarship last year, you are welcome to apply. For the Florence Golda scholarship, a member is eligible to receive it up to two times.

How much is awarded? How many scholarships are given out?

The amount of each scholarship and the number of scholarships awarded in each category will be determined by the scholarship committee after reviewing all the applications.

Historically, each Florence Golda scholarship has been $1,500 to $2,000; College level and LPN to RN scholarships have been $750 to $1,500 and High School level scholarships have been $500 to $1,000.

I’m a graduating high school senior but I’ve been accepted to a nursing program. Should I apply for a high school level scholarship or a college level scholarship?

You are welcome to submit an application for both scholarships. Please submit two complete application packets. Your applications will be reviewed as part of each level but a student will only receive one scholarship from R.O.N.A in any given year.

It is not necessary to have the individuals completing your recommendations submit them twice – just make sure to list the individuals on your application so we can make sure they get attached to both applications.

How can I deliver my application?

The best options are to email it or have it postmarked by the due date and mailed to our office. If you would like to hand-deliver it, you can drop it off. Our office is located at 4115 Bridgeport Way W. Suite F. University Place, WA 98466. If we are not open, you can use the mail slot on the door. Must be received at the office on by 11:59pm on Feb 28, 2025.

If I am awarded the scholarship, when can I start using the money?

The funds will be sent to your school in June 2025. If any information regarding the school has changed between submitting the application and June, please email us at scholarships@rainierolympicnurses.org to ensure we have the correct information.
